CDS Vic is about more than just reducing waste – it’s about creating positive change for people and communities throughout Victoria. Across the state’s West, recyclers have proven just that, donating an inspiring $70,348 to The Salvation Army Victoria through the West Zone network operated by TOMRA Cleanaway.

Every eligible drink container returned represents a small action with big impact. By choosing to donate their 10c container refunds, thousands of West Zone recyclers have helped turn everyday recycling into meaningful support for one of Victoria’s most trusted charities.

Over $70k raised is the equivalent of 703,480 eligible drink containers being returned by recyclers across the West Zone – which will provide 561 crisis beds to people facing homelessness.

Victoria’s Container Deposit Scheme empowers recyclers to make a choice every time they return containers: keep the refund or donate it to a registered Donation Partner. Across the West Zone, many have chosen to give back, demonstrating how environmental responsibility and social impact can go hand in hand.

This milestone highlights the unique power of CDS Vic: a scheme that rewards recycling, reduces litter, and creates opportunities to support charitable organisations doing essential work.
