Green Collect has surpassed 2 million drink containers returned to their two CDS Vic Depots located in Campbellfield and Coburg North.

Green Collect is a certified social enterprise and registered charity operating two new Depots as a part of Victoria’s Container Deposit Scheme, CDS Vic.

Victoria’s Container Deposit Scheme rewards Victorians with a 10-cent refund for every eligible used drink can, bottle and carton. CDS Vic will reduce Victoria’s litter by up to half, create new economic opportunities, generate around 600 jobs across the state, in both regional and metropolitan Victoria, and turn drink containers into new recycled products.

Sally Quinn, Green Collect’s Chief Executive Officer, said that the new Depots have brought upon some great employment opportunities.

“One of the visions that Green Collect has for these sites is to see employment opportunities and training opportunities for people previously excluded in mainstream employment,” she said.

“That’s something which really adds a deeper level of meaning to everything that is happening at these Depots.

“One of the things that Green Collect has done over the past 20 years is innovate and move into new green industries, so when we heard about this scheme we wanted to be a part of it. We saw the possibility for jobs growth and social impact, as well as shoring up Green Collect’s role as a key provider of circular economy services across Victoria”

“It’s more than numbers. What we see here at our CDS Vic Depots are values being lived out. Values of inclusivity and values of sustainability. Whenever you come to a Green Collect site there’s a feeling of being a part of something exciting and being a part of something meaningful.”

Services offered at both CDS Vic depot locations by Green Collect include drive-through container processing capabilities and business and commercial collections. Customers can register for direct bank payment through the CDS Vic West Zone app or choose to donate container refunds to Green Collect via the CDS Vic West Zone app.
