As we move into July, we want to bring your attention to a very important annual event in Australia: NAIDOC Week. This is a significant time for all Australians, and at TOMRA Cleanaway, we believe it’s crucial for us to acknowledge and celebrate it within our network. TOMRA Cleanaway is one of just over 2,300 organisations with a Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP).
What is NAIDOC Week?
NAIDOC Week is an annual celebration that recognises and honours the history, culture, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. It’s a time for all Australians to learn about and celebrate the world’s oldest continuous living cultures.
When is NAIDOC Week 2025?
NAIDOC Week 2025 will be held from Sunday, 6th July to Sunday, 13th July 2025.
Why does NAIDOC Week matter to your Return and Earn depot?
NAIDOC Week offers a vital opportunity for reflection, education, and celebration. It allows us to:

The theme for NAIDOC Week 2025 is “The Next Generation: Strength, Vision & Legacy.”
This powerful theme celebrates 50 years of NAIDOC Week, honouring the achievements of the past while looking boldly to the future. It aims to highlight the young Indigenous leaders who will carry the torch, shaping the future with courage, insight, and deep respect for their cultural heritage
Practically, this theme encourages us to:
- Recognise and celebrate the contributions of young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals within our communities and beyond.
- Consider how we can support the development and empowerment of the next generation of Indigenous Australians.
- Reflect on the legacy that has been passed down through generations and how we can contribute to a positive future for all.
How can your Return and Earn depot get involved in NAIDOC Week 2025?
Whether you identify as Indigenous or choose to be an ally, here are some practical ways your Return and Earn depot can get involved and show your support for NAIDOC Week 2025:
- Display the NAIDOC Week 2025 Poster: The official NAIDOC Week poster is a powerful visual. Download and display it prominently in your depot to show your support and raise awareness among your staff and customers (www.naidoc.org.au).
- Acknowledge Country: Begin your team meetings or communications during NAIDOC Week with an Acknowledgement of Country. This is a simple but respectful way to recognise the Traditional Owners of the land on which your depot operates. You can find out which Aboriginal land you work on here ADD LINK
