Did you know that 85% of the TOMRA Cleanaway business is female? Of these esteemed women, we have some wonderful women that are Mothers – Happy Mother’s Day from Team TOMRA Cleanaway!
This Mother’s Day we celebrate those women in our Team that come to work each day for themselves, for their families, and who lead by example each and every day for their children. A number of our TOMRA Cleanaway Mum’s reflected on what Motherhood means to them and how working at TOMRA Cleanaway has infused a sense of pride in their family life.
Reena Bhattarai – Payables Administration Officer
Being a mum is such a blessing! I am a mother of two lovely angels, my son Dib is 20, and my daughter Rajee, is 10. I could not have ever imagined having two children who have such different personalities! The challenge of motherhood is whether my children complain or make me smile, I am learning each day to be stronger and a better person by being their Mum. There is so much that my Mother said to me in my childhood that makes sense now I am a mother as well!
Every day is a new learning experience as a Mother, and I am proud of myself for being strong for myself and my family every day. Happy Mother’s Day to all the wonderful mums out there.
Raissa Mae Orayenza, Customer Service Officer
When I think about being a Mother, it really feels like each day I am accomplishing something BIG. All the time and effort I put into helping my four children are so worth it! I love being a mother to my children, they are all so different, such individuals with unique talents.
Working at TOMRA Cleanaway is something I am proud of, as supporting the container deposit scheme (Return and Earn) with my Family means I am setting a good example to my children. My husband and I teach our kids the importance of recycling at home and working for TOMRA Cleanaway – it makes our recycling efforts a reality for my kids. My Children are really proud of me for what I do each day and I am proud of myself.

Family and motherhood mean everything to me. My husband Craig is my rock, and my greatest supporter, and our little boy, Oliver is the miracle we never thought we would have! He is an absolute joy and a blessing. They both mean everything to me!
My Family is the primary reason I get up and go to work each day, that, and the awesome team at TOMRA Cleanaway I work with. I love coming to work and know our Team is helping achieve great things every day for the community and environment. It’s a wonderful feeling to know I am contributing to something that my Son will take as the norm when he is an adult – but his Mum had a role in making a difference.
Nela Hamidovic, Executive Team Assistant
Being a mother is a tough gig! Our children never recognise the effort we put in until they are a little bit older or have kids themselves. The unconditional love I have for my children is incredible. I love my children dearly and they will forever be my little babies, no matter how old they are.
Being a working mother is important to me, as it gives me a sense of accomplishment and I am doing what I love (being an Executive Assistant). Working provides me with the adult interactions I craved so much when I was on maternity leave. By working I feel accomplished by doing something well and contributing in a positive way to our team at TOMRA Cleanaway. Working helps me because I have the best of both worlds – I get to work with a great team and have a job I love, then I get to go home to my family that I love dearly.
Michelle Mandl-Keating, Communication & Engagement Manager
I am constantly blown away by my children. They are quality human beings, and they make me so proud. Motherhood is certainly one of the most challenging activities I have been involved in life thus far. I’m not sure what it feels like to compete in a marathon, but I wonder if motherhood is something similar!
Having a career working in environment and sustainability, I have a lot of pride in being able to teach my children how to take care of and participate in the world around them. My role in TOMRA Cleanaway and delivering such a considerable change in NSW through the Return and Earn container deposit scheme is something I know my kids are proud of – I hear it when they talk about their Mum. I am so looking forward to my children’s future and see how they evolve as people.
Tara Rapley, Customer Service Supervisor
Being a mum is by far the most rewarding and blessed job on the planet. I have found that through motherhood, I have a level of patience that before having kids I never knew I had! There are no words to describe the feeling when you see your child smiling and laughing but they provide you with the true meaning of life and how much you can really love.
Being a Mother is one of the reasons I get out of bed every day. To be a part of building their whole self, encouraging the development of their self-esteem, supporting their dreams, and loving them unconditionally – it’s a gift.
I am so lucky to be able to come to work and have a home away from home with our Team at TOMRA Cleanaway – I love our Team. It’s incredible to know I am contributing to something that is changing the world for my kids and their future and a program that my grandchildren will get to use as well.
