Recently, NSW GM, Ves and NSW Network Compliance and Development Manager, Carolyn hit the road for a five-day journey across the Riverina, travelling nearly 2,500 kilometres from Queanbeyan through to Griffith. Along the way, we were joined by Account Manager Lucy in Corowa. What followed was an inspiring and insightful experience, one that reinforced the importance of the work being done every day across the TOMRA Cleanaway network for Return and Earn.
Visiting Return and Earn Depots and OTC Sites
Over the course of the trip, the team visited eight Return and Earn depots and four over-the-counter (OTC) sites. At every stop, we were welcomed by operators who were generous with their time and proud to share their experiences. The level of engagement we saw across the network was outstanding. From depot operations to customer interactions, it was clear that dedication and enthusiasm underpin the success of each Return and Earn site.
The passion and professionalism of operators were evident everywhere the team visited. Each site reflected a strong sense of ownership and pride, with operators clearly invested in delivering a reliable, welcoming, and efficient recycling service for their local communities.
Return and Earn sites as Essential Community Hubs
What truly stood out throughout the journey was the role the scheme plays in regional towns across the Riverina. In many smaller communities, Return and Earn depots and collection points are more than recycling locations. They act as local hubs, bringing people together, encouraging sustainable behaviour, and contributing positively to the local economy.
Making a Lasting Impact in Regional NSW Communities
Hearing local stories and seeing the impact firsthand reinforced how important this Return and Earn and the TOMRA Cleanaway network is, particularly in regional areas. Supporting environmental goals while also creating employment opportunities and fostering community pride.

This trip was a valuable opportunity to connect with the people who help make Return and Earn work every day. It reinforced the tangible difference, and positive impact our network of return points has and continues to grow across the region.
