Tasmanians donate over $12,000 to Guide Dogs Tasmania through Recycle Rewards
Tasmanian recyclers have turned their eligible drink containers into life-changing support, with more than $12,000 in 10-cent container refunds donated to Guide Dogs Tasmania since March through Recycle Rewards.
A cheque handover was held to celebrate the generosity shown by locals across the state, recognising the community’s support for people who are blind or have low vision.
The result has surpassed the partnership’s original $10,000 fundraising goal, highlighting the impact that small, everyday recycling choices can make when communities come together.
Scheme partners joined Guide Dogs Tasmania representatives to celebrate the milestone, recognising the generosity of recyclers across the state. As the statewide Major Donation Partner for Recycle Rewards, Tasmanian recyclers were able donate their container refunds at the almost 50 refund points across the state. These donations will help fund vital services including mobility training, therapy programs, and the preparation of future guide and assistance dogs for Tasmanians.
Guide Dogs Tasmania provides life-changing guide and assistance dogs for Tasmanians living with low vision, disability or illness, helping people build independence, confidence and connection. Public donations are vital to supporting this work, with the organisation relying on community generosity to help deliver its services and raise and train dogs locally.
About Recycle Rewards
Recycle Rewards is Tasmania’s container refund scheme, supported by the Tasmanian Government to reduce litter, increase recycling and support Australia’s circular economy. Since launching on 1 May 2025, Tasmanians have been able to receive a 10 cent refund for eligible drink bottle, can, and carton returned to any of the 49 refund points across the state.
