Thanks to generous Return and Earn recyclers in NSW, not-for-profit GIVIT has raised more than $17,000 to support people affected by floods across NSW.
Return and Earn recyclers raise $17,000 for flood relief in NSW
GIVIT was featured on all Return and Earn machines for five months, allowing customers to directly donate all or part of their container refunds to assist with flood support.
GIVIT CEO Sarah Tennant said that needs of people impacted by floods across New South Wales would continue for months.
“There are still more than 11,000 requests for assistance on the GIVIT platform for people affected by this disaster,” said Sarah.
“As these regions enter the recovery phase and people begin to move back into repaired homes, items such as furniture, washing machines and kitchen essentials are needed to help them get back on their feet. 100% of the money received by GIVIT will be used to purchase essential items.
“GIVIT is grateful to all of the customers who donated through Return and Earn to assist fellow Aussies in their time of need,” she said.
GIVIT is one of many charities and groups listed on the Return and Earn app. This feature is an easy way for anyone to make a charitable donation and reap the social, environmental and economic benefits of recycling. More than $35 million has been raised for charities and not-for-profits via donations and fees since the commencement of the scheme.
GIVIT will continue to be listed on the Return and Earn app which means anyone using the scheme can continue to donate their container refund to support GIVIT’s ongoing flood appeal.
Return and Earn continues to be a success with more than 8 billion containers returned for recycling through the network of 620+ return points across NSW.
