“The opening of the Katoomba ‘The Edge’ Cinema Return and Earn machine is providing the Blue Mountains City Council community with more access to redeem their eligible bottles and cans.
It’s now even easier for Katoomba residents to return and earn with a new Return and Earn machine opening at Katoomba’s ‘The Edge’ Cinema.
Blue Mountains City Council residents are already enthusiastic recyclers, returning more than 33 million containers for recycling since Return and Earn launched in December 2017.
“The opening of the Katoomba ‘The Edge’ Cinema Return and Earn machine is providing the Blue Mountains City Council community with more access to redeem their eligible bottles and cans,” said James Dorney, CEO of TOMRA Cleanaway, network operator for Return and Earn.
“The new Return and Earn machine will be the 5th collection point provided in the area, delivering greater convenience and access” said James.
Users of the Katoomba Cinema machine have the option to print a voucher for the refund amount, redeemable for cash at Woolworths, or they can opt for an e-voucher or payment into their bank account or PayPal by downloading the Return and Earn app before visiting.
They can also choose to donate their refund to one of the charity partners listed on the machine or one of the hundreds of charities listed on the Return and Earn app.
“Since commencement on 1 December 2017, Return and Earn has become a key fundraising channel for many charities and community groups in NSW. More than $40 million has been raised from donations and fees from hosting return points over the last 5 years,” Mr Dorney said.
Mountain Youth Services is currently featured as the local donation partner on the Katoomba Cinema machine. They provide care and support services for young people in the Blue Mountains.
Local recyclers can also support the latest state-wide donation appeal, ‘Protect our Planet,’ by donating to either the Australian Marine Conservation Society or Bush Heritage Australia.
To date more than 8.3 billion containers have been returned for recycling through the network of 600+ return points across NSW.
“By using the Katoomba Cinema machine as well as your household recycling, we can all do our bit to reduce litter and landfill, and contribute to a more sustainable future,” said Mr Dorney.
The Katoomba Cinema Return and Earn machine is located at 225 Great Western Highway Katoomba and is open from 7am to 7pm daily.
