“By using this return point, in combination with your household recycling, we can all do our bit to reduce litter and landfill and contribute to a more sustainable future,” – CEO, TOMRA Cleanaway
It’s now even more accessible for Richmond residents to recycle with a new Return and Earn machine now open at Richmond Club.
Hawkesbury residents are already avid recyclers, having returned more than 65 million containers for recycling since Return and Earn commenced in December 2017.
The opening of the Richmond Return and Earn machine is providing the Hawkesbury community with more access to redeem their eligible bottles and cans.
“This new machine is the 12th return point in the area and will provide the local community with greater access and convenience when recycling their drink containers, helping the environment all while being rewarded for their efforts,” said James Dorney, CEO of TOMRA Cleanaway, network operator for Return and Earn.
Users of the Richmond Club Return and Earn machine can print a voucher for the refund amount, redeemable for cash at Ten Tops Richmond, or opt for an e-voucher or payment into their bank account or PayPal by downloading the Return and Earn app.
They can also donate their refund to a charity partner on the machine or one of the hundreds of charities listed on the Return and Earn app.
“Since commencement on 1 December 2017, Return and Earn have become a key fundraising channel for many charities and community groups in NSW. “More than $42 million has been raised from donations and fees from hosting return points over the last five years,” Mr Dorney said.
Riding for the Disabled Tall Timbers Centre is currently featured as the local donation partner on the machine. This charity aims to improve self-esteem and strengthen abilities through tailored horse riding programs in rural settings.
Over 9 billion containers have been returned for recycling through the network of over 600 return points across NSW to date.
“By using this return point, in combination with your household recycling, we can all do our bit to reduce litter and landfill and contribute to a more sustainable future,” said Mr Dorney.
The Richmond Club Return and Earn machine is located at 71 Francis St, Richmond and is open from 8am to 7pm Monday to Friday, and 9am to 6pm Saturday and Sunday.
