“We’re proud to be making it easy for Tasmanians to return eligible drink containers as we continue to roll out the remaining refund points across this beautiful island state. We have been excited by strong participation in the scheme and uptake of the Recycle Rewards app from day one.”
Tasmanians have now returned over one million eligible drink containers through the state’s container refund scheme, Recycle Rewards. The milestone comes just 4 days since the scheme was launched on 1 May.
Minister for the Environment Madeleine Ogilvie celebrated the milestone, which occurred at the Recycle Rewards RVM located at Cove Hill Precinct in Bridgewater.
Since the scheme started on 1 May, more than $100,000 has been put back in the pockets of Tasmanians or donated to one of more than 120 Donation Partners signed up with Recycle Rewards. Tasmanians’ uptake of digital payment option has also been strong, with 39% of payments taking place through the TOMRA Cleanaway provided Recycle Rewards app.
It has never been easier to help keep recyclables out of landfill and litter out of the environment, with Tasmanians encouraged to continue to recycle their eligible drink containers at any one of the 40 convenient and accessible refund points across the state. More refund points are still being added to the network.
Every eligible drink container returned receives a 10c refund, which you can keep for yourself or donate to a local charity or community group.
