The health and well-being of our customers, staff and the community are priority for TOMRA Cleanaway. We want our customer experience to be easier and safer during these challenging times and have worked hard to ensure that all of our return points are reflecting key government health advice.

Customers visiting our return points are asked to maintain social distancing of at least 1.5 metres from others, practice good hygiene including using hand sanitiser or wet wipes to clean hands before and after returning, and follow the latest Public Health Order directions. If you are feeling unwell, please stay home and return containers when you are feeling better.

Reverse vending machines (RVMs)

‘Touch-free recycling’ has been introduced at our Reverse Vending Machines, customers that make use of this return point need to handle their own containers, and do not need to touch the machine.

Two ‘touch-free’ payout methods are available at all RVM’s;

  • Cash vouchers are dispensed at the conclusion of a container return session by simply waiting 15 seconds. The RVM will automatically print your cash voucher after this time.
  • Digital payouts are also available with e-voucher or PayPal payout available touch-free. For both of these options customers need to download the myTOMRA app. Once at the RVM, scan your app barcode, insert your containers and then wait 15 seconds after your last container is returned and the machine will send your refund to your app.

Standardised COVID-19 government signage has been installed at all RVMs to remind participants to follow good hygiene practices; and clear markings have been applied on the ground in front of the RVM as an easy guide for where to stand to maintain social distancing when returning.

All RVMs are thoroughly cleaned a minimum of twice a day.
