“Edmondson Park locals now have even greater access to the NSW container deposit scheme, Return and Earn, with the opening of the new Ed.Square Town Centre reverse vending machine. TOMRA Cleanaway are pleased to be contributing to outstanding results at a green star rated community through our network”
Welcome to the network Ed. Square Town Centre!
Celebrations for the recently opened Ed. Square Town Centre in Edmondson Park kicked off last Thursday 29 April with a grand opening. Touted by developer Frasers Property as ‘the heart of South Western Sydney’, the new integrated community location of Ed. Square boasts a Green Building Council of Australia 6 Star- Green Star Community rating.
The container deposit scheme network in NSW has been integrated into the development, with Ed. Square locals having access to a new return point location to exchange their eligible bottles and cans for cash with the opening of a Return and Earn reverse vending machine (RVM) at the Town Centre.
“This RVM brings the total number of return points available in the Liverpool City Council area to 13, it is also the first for Edmondson Park which means locals now have even greater access to the scheme,” said James Dorney, CEO of TOMRA Cleanaway, network operator for Return and Earn.
Consumers receive a 10c refund for each eligible bottle, can or carton they return or can choose to donate their refund to one of the onscreen charity partners available on the machine, including the current local donation partner ‘Asylum Seeker Centre’.
Until the end of August, users of the scheme can also opt to donate to a new state-wide charity initiative which is helping provide more accessible and equitable healthcare services for regional, rural and remote communities in NSW. The joint initiative by TOMRA and Return and Earn is raising funds for the Royal Flying Doctor Service.
Mr Dorney said users of the Ed. Square Town Centre machine have the option to print a voucher for the refund amount, redeemable for cash at Coles, or alternatively, they can opt for an e-voucher or payment directly into their bank account by downloading the MyTOMRA app before visiting.
“By using this RVM, the Edmondson Park community will be helping their local environment while also being rewarded for their efforts,” he said.
The new RVM is one of over 620 return points available across NSW with more than 5.4 billion containers returned through the Return and Earn network for recycling since the scheme commenced three years ago.
The new Ed. Square return point is located on Parking level 2, 52 Soldiers Pde (best entrance from MacDonald Road) Edmondson Park and will be open from 8am to 7pm daily.
