Welcome to the CDS Vic Network for TOMRA Cleanaway – CDS Vic Campbellfield Depot!

 

Monday 4 December 2023 marked the official welcome to the CDS Vic West Zone network for TOMRA Cleanaway to CDS Vic Campbellfield Depot, operated by Green Collect.

Located in the Hume City Council, the CDS Vic Campbellfield Depot opening was an occasion to remember with a variety of community groups, special guests and VIPs in attendance.

Victoria’s container deposit scheme rewards Victorians with a 10-cent refund for every eligible can, carton, and bottle they return.

The refund points consist of reverse vending machines, that take cans rather than dispensing them, as well as over-the-counter refund points, pop-up mobile collection sites, and bulk container refund depots.

The CDS Vic Campbellfield launch celebrations took place at the new depot located at 13 Fordson Rd, Campbellfield, with proceedings led by TOMRA Cleanaway’s Victorian GM, Tony Catania.

Operator Green Collect, are a work integrated social enterprise and registered charity that creates employment and training pathways for people who have experience barriers to employment.

Green Collect are circular economy champions that have a mission to work for a world without waste. A partnership with TOMRA Cleanaway to operate the CDS Vic Campbellfield Depot was a logical business partnership that expanded on Green Collects existing service offering.  The opportunity to  deliver a CDS Vic depot has enabled employment of 6 new staff that are involved in helping the domestic circular economy in Victoria.

The Team at Green Collect reflected on their involvement in CDS Vic and the launch of their depot in Campbellfield;
We are really proud as a social enterprise to operate this CDS Vic depot in Campbellfield. It continues to grow our vision for a world without waste, it provides meaningful jobs to people who may have experienced barriers to employment and enables recycling and increased environmental care. And it invests in the local community and economy of Campbellfield.

CDS Vic Depot Campbellfield provides the opportunity for community and businesses surrounding the depot to conveniently return commercial volumes of eligible drink containers.

The CDS Vic Campbellfield Depot has processed over 350,000 containers since commencing operation on 1 November 2023, approximately 12,000 containers each day on average.

By recycling through the Campbellfield Depot, the local Hume community are helping keep litter off the streets, beaches and waterways in Campbellfield and surrounds.
