Welcome to the CDS Vic Network for TOMRA Cleanaway – CDS Vic Horsham Depot!
Located just minutes from the centre of town, the CDS Vic Depot Horsham offers the people in the Rural City of Horsham the opportunity to recycle and return their eligible drink containers to earn their 10cent refund.
AXIS Worx, the operator of the new Horsham CDS Vic Depot, are a social enterprise supporting people with disability who are unable to work in the open employment sector. AXIS Worx has been carrying out their mission in Horsham since 1983, delivering specialised supported employment services across their three different enterprises – Wood Worx, E-Worx and Pak Worx.
1 Million Containers and Counting!
While the main event of the day was welcoming the depot into the network, the very recent 1 million containers returned milestone hit by the Horsham Depot was definitely the main cause for celebration. It was a wonderful event, marking the joyous occasion with special guests and VIPs from the local council and broader AXIS Worx and AXIS Employment team!
Representatives from the Barengi Gadjin Land Council Aboriginal Corporation commenced the event, with Aunty Annebelle Nikkelson delivering an insightful Welcome to Country followed by a Smoking Ceremony delivered by Stumpy.
Horsham Rural City Council Mayor Cr Robyn Gulline and AXIS Employment Chief Executive Officer Colin Barnett spoke at the event, speaking to the success of the Depot so far and the environmental and social benefits this facility brings to the wider Horsham community and the supported employees at AXIS Worx.
The event also included a tour of the CDS Vic Depot Horsham, whereby attendees were invited to tour behind the scenes and see how the counting and sorting technology operates. Even for a Thursday morning, the Horsham depot was busy with locals dropping off large reusable bags full of eligible containers, wowing all in attendance with the scale of the containers being processed through this depot.
